Capiz: Visit Ayagao Beach in Roxas City

There’s more to Roxas City’s shoreline than the already talked-about grey sand beach that is Baybay. If you want to experience the other side of the city, head to Ayagao Beach and be mesmerized by the unadulterated beauty that it has to offer. If your idea of rest and relaxation is getting tucked in a faraway island, then, Ayagao offers you almost the same feeling, only that it’s just a 20 minute ride from the city center. With its course off-white sand beach, the hiking trails, the zip-line and the magnificent of the sunset, there’s no wonder Ayagao is fast becoming a nature lover’s destination.

It’s fairly easy to get there. Take a jeepney ride plying from Roxas City to Ivisan and stop at the Crossing Talon. You will not get lost here since there’s actually a big sign that welcomes you to Ayagao Beach. Then, take ride a tricycle stationed there, which will take you straight to the beach. If you don’t want the hassle of moving from tricycle to the jeepney, you can rent a tricycle to take you there. Just be sure to make a fair deal with the driver. The road is paved, although the driver should usually exert extra effort when going up elevated areas and when playing the rough roads some 300 meters before the beach.

If you want to spend a day by the beach, cottages are for rent and there are also stores where you can buy refreshments and chips. But don’t forget to bring your own food if you want to enjoy a day of food trip why basking around. If you are coming here as a group and you want an overnight stay in the area, there’s a house perched atop the hill that you can rent out for around P5,000. It has two rooms in it, baths, kitchen, living area and your very own view of the Sibuyan Sea.

If you want to stroll around, take the Tagaytay Trail. I don’t know why they call it such but you’ll fall in love with the view and the walk is worth talking about.

Of course, there’s the zipline which will give you a breath-catching activity and make your stay here even more memorable.

And if you don’t feel like doing nothing at all, a mere stint on the hammock in one of the cottage, under the shade of the tree by the sea or a lazy stroll is enough to make you realize that there’s paradise here on earth, particularly to those who search for it and spend time to appreciate the beauty of nature.
